F1.T - Rules of the Game
Rules of the F1 Tipping game are explained on this page. If you need help with other aspects of the site see the 'Help' section.

Introduction
F1 Tipping is a FREE online Formula One prediction competition. Players predict the outcome of each Grand Prix as we follow the Grand Prix season to each race on the calendar.

The F1 Tipping game was developed to help make the F1 season more interesting for fans to follow, with the intention that a group of people would compete together in a personalised league and share their thoughts in the message boards. However, it can also be played solo where you compete individually against the rest of the world!

We also aim to provide F1 fans with more, including F1 news headlines from your favourite sources and messaging system with other F1 Tipping players.

Submitting Predictions
For each race on the Formula 1 calendar, you predict the 1st, 2nd and 3rd qualifiers and race finishers. Maximum points are scored by guessing the positions in the correct order, but supplementary points are also awarded if the driver you chose finishes in the top three.
(see scoring for more details)

There are also bonus predictions for you to pick to gain extra points. You may either participate in the Quinella or Trifecta bonus but not both.

The league's score is the average of its members' score per F1 race. A league will get bonus points for having more members in it. Players also receive team bonus for joining a league.

Submission Deadlines
You may submit or change your predictions via the tipping form at anytime before the cut off date for each race.

The cut off time is on qualifying day, at around 10am local time of the Grand Prix.

This may vary from GP to GP, depending on the host country's timezone. You may check the live 'time remaining' at f1tipping.com at anytime for a definitive guide. Under no circumstances will tips be received after the close date even for causes beyond control, for example, server outages or delayed password resets.

Scoring system
F1 Tipping scoring is divided into two categories - player and league points. Results are based on the Official Formula1 website at the time of calculation. Source of the results may change at anytime with or without notice. Further post-race amendments to results are not considered. Qualifying results are taken from the final qualifying session and before any grid demotion (or promotion) as a result of a penalty or for any other reason. A finisher defined is a driver that receives a position/classification and one that is not RET (retired or equivalent). F1 Tipping reserves the right to modify the results at anytime for any reason if deemed necessary.

Player Scoring
A player's individual scoring is based on his/her predictions and the outcome of the race:

Qualifying
A correct 1st, 2nd and 3rd prediction wins you 10, 8 and 6 points respectively.
You win 3 points for picking a correct driver but in the wrong top three position.
You win 1 point if the driver you picked does not qualify in the top three at all!

Race
A correct 1st, 2nd and 3rd prediction wins you 10, 8 and 6 points respectively.
You win 3 points for picking a correct driver but in the wrong top three position.
You win 1 point if the driver you picked does not finish in the top three at all!

Bonus
10 points for predicting fastest lap driver.
10 points for predicting number of race finishers.
10 points for predicting the last driver to finish.

Quinella:
A quinella worth 15pts is awarded if you pick the first two finishers IN ANY ORDER.

Trifecta:
A trifecta worth 65pts is awarded if you pick the first three finishers IN CORRECT ORDER.

For each race, players choose to play either Quinella or Trifecta but not both. Quinella has a higher chance of success and Trifecta rewards more points for a successful attempt. Players receive team bonus points for participating in a league with more than 2 players in it.

League Scoring
League scores is calculated based on the average of its members' score.

A league retains its points even if one or more players leave after the score is calculated.

League bonus points are awarded for having more players join a league.
